Dating in Asatru : A Female's Perspective As a heathen female, I'd like a heathen man. This has been a big issue for me and I hope the moderator leaves the post; I did not include too much personal information other than what is needed to make my point. With that said, I will say that I've noticed a lot of older Heathen men dating younger Heathen women. I can name 6 Heathen couples I know right now where the man is anywhere from 10 - 20 years older than his girlfriend. So these are generally men who are in their 30's or 40's dating women in their 20's. Realm view
My first time achieving world conquest in CK; I never managed to do it in CK2.
Ended up taking the last county from the Mongols in 1358.
Started as King Sigurdr in 867 and reformed the Asatru faith in 956 around the time I formed the empire of Scandinavia. It was a religion of fundamentalist warmongers, designed to concentrate power in the hands of the Fylkiemperor. (In terms of doctrine, everything was a crime, and one of the tenets was religious law. Arrests and revocations were used to prevent anyone inside the empire from getting too strong. The religion also used mendicant preachers to speed up conversion and help prevent peasant revolts during rapid expansion.)
I tried to delay adopting feudalism for a while. (I'm not sure about the date but it says I reached the early medieval era in 1035). Switching to feudalism greatly reduces the size of your military from tribal levels, so I wanted time to spread the new religion in northern Europe and weaken the big neighboring states while I still had a strong military.
Through the whole game, I used the position as dynasty head to disinherit all but one of my sons, which let me pick good heirs and avoid ever splitting the realm during succession. Most rulers took the learning lifestyle so that they could use "restraint" to avoid having too many children, and use other perks to speed up religious conversion in conquered lands.
I managed to have a single emperor (Balder) reign for almost 80 years 1323-1400. His father Grimr had remarried after his first wife died, and Balder was born by this second wife when Grimr was already 70 years old. Balder took over as emperor at age 16 (having become heir in place of his much older brother) and lived into his 90s.
After clearing all other states from the map in 1358 (leaving nobody left for the warmongers to fight), Balder created a second new religion for the empire in 1368. This one kept religious law, but gave full equality for both genders, took accepting views of all crimes, replaced warmongering with legalism, and introduced a religious head of faith. (The ruling dynasty had been harboring a witch coven for a few generations and so reform was essential to keep the emperor from getting blackmailed.)
The religion had almost replaced Asatru by 1400 (after many, many, personal requests for conversion by the revered emperor).

2020.09.18 19:58 Dependent-Echo-2284 (Ck3) Novgorod to Russia(hopefully)

So anyway I started at the 867 start date and formed the kingdom of Novgorod, and I’ve been slowly annexing my neighbors and I’m in 890, now but I’m wondering if I should stay Asatru and keep Norse culture or convert to Slavic paganism and Russian culture.

2020.09.16 14:11 MeMeEndyHead Learned holy men of Odin, i require your aid!

So, i decided to play a rather unorthodox game of ck3. The plan was to create as much mayhem and war possible so that the best warriors from the mayhem and war will meet Odin in Valhalla to prepare for Ragnarok. This idea was a product of a direct inspiration from a hoi4 mod called "The New Order: the Last Days of Europe" where Himmler, who rules an SS-ran state in the regions which encompassed historical Burgundy and who wishes to purge the untermenschen by means of nuclear war, was the main antagonist.
I chose a count in norway in the 800s start date with surprisingly good stats in order to start the conquest of norway to gather resources for my plans. I have achieved in conquering enough land to form the Kingdom of Norway and i even reformed the asatru religion to a fundamentalist, esoteric, gnostic, warmongering religion whose religious head is my character. Since i now have all these resources to put into my plans, i can finally fulfill my goals and let odin have an overwhelming edge against his enemies in ragnarok!
The problem is however, i do not know how achieve this goal. What i ask from you, learned men of Odin, are the methods by which i can make war, not love. Currently, the plan that i have covers Russia as the rurikid kingdom of Novgorod, who is my ally by blood, has a slavic adversary which equals even the brave warriors of tyr in strength, the White Rus. While i can always just declare war on them myself and drag the rurikids into the war, i am sure there are better methods to ignite a conflict and drag it as long as possible. So that is what i ask of you, o wise men, tell me of your methods of warmaking while not directly making said wars. Tell me this, o wise men, and Odin shall be victorious in the Ragnarok!

2020.09.10 10:01 RamboBambi550 CK3 - Did I mess up by reforming my religion to have equal gender laws?

I reformed Asatru on the 867 start date and made my new faith have equal views on gender.
Since I’m still on confederate partition (and will be for a LONG time of course), now every time my ruler dies the real is split between ALL my children, not just my sons. On top of that I’m afraid that if I marry my daughters to foreign rulers, their children will end up inheriting those lands and removing them from my empire.
Luckily my current king still follows Old Asatru, should I re-reform the faith or are there some cool benefits/ tricks I’m missing that make the equal gender law worth it?

This Valknut pendant with the motif of Odin's knot is designed according to historical models from the Viking era. Walknut/ Odin Symbol/ Occultism. The Valknut appears on a wide variety of objects found in areas inhabited by the Germanic peoples. The symbol is prominently featured on the Nene River Ring, an Anglo-Saxon gold finger ring dated to around the 8th to 9th centuries.[2] A wooden bed in the Viking Age Oseberg Ship buried near Tønsberg, Norway features a carving of the symbol on an ornately stylized bedpost and the Oseberg Tapestry, a partially preserved tapestry found within the ship burial, also features the symbol.[3] Additionally, the valknut appears prominently on two picture stones from Gotland, Sweden: the Stora Hammars I stone and the Tängelgårda stone. The historically attested instances of the symbol appear in two traditional, topologically distinct, forms. The symbol appears in unicursal form, topologically a trefoil knot also seen in the triquetra. This unicursal form is found, for example, on the Tängelgårda stone. The symbol also appears in tricursal form, consisting of three linked triangles, topologically equivalent to the Borromean rings. This tricursal form can be seen on one of the Stora Hammars stones, as well as upon the Nene River Ring, and on the Oseberg ship bed post. Although other forms are topologically possible, these are the only attested forms found so far. In Norwegian Bokmål, the term valknute is used for a polygon with a loop on each of its corners.[4] In the English language the looped four-cornered symbol is called Saint John's Arms.

There are many sites in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, UK, Ukraine & Ireland where Viking hoards have been uncovered. The Vikings often traded in hack silver, where pieces of silver were hacked off parts of jewelry & coins and weighed to barter for other goods such as food, crops, cattle & even slaves.
So bone and wood appeared to be the most affordable raw materials used to carve and design ornate pieces and a common feature among Viking jewellery was animal designs taken from nature & Norse mythology. Bone jewelry was common among Viking men and women. The wealthy Vikings would wear bronze, silver and occasionally gold. The less wealthy would wear items of carved horn, bone & iron. As trade routes opened up then materials would appear, such as amber, carnelian and other precious stones.
Due to the complexity of their form, each piece of silver or bronze / bone and wood Viking jewelry must be individually produced.

Just got back from the recruiters office, no 68W/C/D/A were available so I looked over some of the other options but decided to come tomorrow. My medical evaluation will expire in June so my waiver will expire with it, do any of these job come up at least once or twice a month?

Right now I'm looking at the different "entry level" MOS that the goarmy site lists and the one that really interests me is Civil Affairs Specialist (38B).
What's really confusing me is how the army site lists the position is entry level and that there is a "10 week basic training camp and 12 week advanced..." but on the special forces recruitment site, which civil affairs is apparently considered, it says that you must have a rank of at least specialist to transfer to civil affairs. Is Civil Affairs a MOS you can join straight into or is it one that you must transfer into after attaining specialist?
Would really appreciate some help clarifying this, thanks

If I enlist with a degree, can I still do the green to gold program? Everything I can find on the issue implies that you would have some schooling left to complete.
I’d personally like to enlist first for a little experience before commissioning.

I ship out in mid-May and I'm having the hardest time losing weight. I'll perhaps be under 180 pounds at 5'7" by my ship date. What can I do? I did pass my tape test at MEPS. I don't know what to do. I've been using c25k but nothing is really improving.

Wondering about sports bras for BCT. I ship to Ft Leonardwood in July and was thinking about the packing list. Some people say they aren't really checking your underwear too carefully so long as it's black/white/tan but others say they have to be free of logos. I'm wondering if I need to invest in a whole new set of sports bras because mine have visible logos (that wouldn't show through a PT shirt). How strict are they on that?

I ship in 3 weeks. I was going in with an 11X Option 40 but at MEPS when I spoke to the jobs counselor he said my eyesight won’t allow me to do 11X op 40 so I had to switch my job. He then had me go do an airborne physical (came back as qualified) and come back to him. Then he said a 92G op 40 available (lol) but if combat arms was my goal there were other ones I do qualify for. So I picked 13F- no op 40 available then- which was neck and neck with infantry for me if something like this should happen, and apparently if you make it through RASP the 75th is a great place to actually experience doing this job, so I’m happy with it. I’ve seen various dated posts on reddit about how if I perform well PT wise and just well overall in I think Basic or AIT, someone will offer me Airborne if its available and that at Airborne there may be a 75th Ranger there to offer RASP. My questions are how likely is that these days, is the 75th in need of FISTers like that, and would coming in as an E4 help or hinder the process in any way?
I’m sure some will say I should have waited for an op 40 but unfortunately I’m on a time constraint with my current situation. Also, I don’t mind just going in, continuing to work my ass off then putting in for it when I can.

Hey im thinking about joining the army. I have my eyes set on 68w because im interested in the medical aspect and i cant think of anything more honorable to do than save someones life especially save someone who is also risking it all for everyone back at home. I have a few doubts about this however. By going active duty id like to be somewhat active if you know what i mean. I read stories all the time of 68w getting stuck in hospitals for the entire duration of their contract. So my question is, is there anything that would improve my chances of being put into a unit that gets deployed? The only things i can think of that would accomplish this are airborne and air-assault schools because theres no flying hospitals right?:) Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated and my inbox is always open to pm!

That is now 12 years ago -- I am now 30 years old with a Masters' degree in Applied Information Technology. I am out of shape, but have been working the past 6 months on getting back into shape. In the last year I have also started working as a cleared army civilian, and because of that I have this renewed desire to get back into it. Like a really renewed desire. I've done some research into possibly enlisting as an e-4 (I understand that I will take a substantial cut in pay), but my question is: Am I eligible? Will my past DEP backout keep me from getting in?

Okay, I read a post on here about enlisted going to OCS and it says you need your superiors permissions/support. How does that work? Can they reject you? Do they have to sign off? I'm considering enlisting with a degree with an option 40 and really want to know how difficult it is to move up (if I decide thats what I want).
Source: FOR IN-SERVICE SOLDIERS: Depending on your unit, you will need to build the packet in accordance with the guidance of the latest OCS MILPER message. Your S1 can assist with this packet. You will need to submit the packet to your units POC (usually S3 Schools, but this may differ), and pass a structured interview (read: board) with a minimum of an O-6 signature authority. You will need the sign-off of your company, battalion, and brigade commanders.

Most direct pathway that a prior service NG 68W can go to RASP and be in the 75th Ranger Regiment?
I understand that Option 40 and 4 are not available to prior service. Is this a definite thing, as in it's impossible to get Option 40 for prior service no matter what?
Currently in as a PFC. I want to consider Active Service after my Guard contract is done.

Ok so I really don't know how to word this but I would like some help if possible. I am in college right now studying broadcast journalism and I've always had the thought of serving in the armed forces. My marine buddy told me that if I had any thought about service I should just go for it. I am absolutely certain I want to finish my school and get my degree but I was wondering what my options were out of college? I saw something on the army website about a "Public Relations Officer" and I spoke with my parents about it and we decided that would be a good fit. My question is that what steps would I take when out of college and how would I go about this?
TLDR: In college studying broadcast journalism, want to join the army after college (in about 4 years) and become a Public Relations Officer, what do I need to do to reach my goal? thanks reddit

Looking at enlisting as a 15U (CH-47 mechanic) and pursuing the WOFT program. My mindset is that I want to be able to learn how to be a mechanic first so if I don't get into the WOFT program I can still get an A&P license. If I go in, or enlist as anything, is there any restriction on when I can apply to being in the WOFT? Or would I need to wait until the end of my 6 years to apply?

I've been posting here a lot and I apologize, but I ship in literally two weeks.
I was looking over the packing list that my recruiter gave me, and I heard that most of what's listed is not necessary. Is that true? What should I bring to Basic? What would happen if I bring my Kindle? I definitely want that because I understand you pretty much go straight to AIT after Basic and I just downloaded a bunch of PKD books onto it.

I've been in contact with a recruiter about enlisting in the reserves as a 12T. My end goal is to drop a warrant packet for 120A. However, my recruiter is pushing to get me to go the officer route since I have my masters. I am trying to weigh the options of both. I would be interested in engineering as an officer, but right now, I am about 210 on PT, and I am not confident that this is good enough to continue down that route since I am very quickly approaching the age limit for commissioning. I am also under the impression that I wouldn't go to the board until I could get a higher PT score. Running is great, push-ups are decent, sit-ups...well, having a child 10 months ago make these more difficult than they need to be, but they're close. I am working hard to raise the score.
Does anyone have any experience with this MOS or the warrant position? Should I continue to explore commissioning even with the PT issue? I understand that EBOLC is very physical and I am confident by the time I went, I would do well, and I am sold on the idea of having a leadership role. However, I do enjoy the technical engineering aspect, and I am willing to hold out to drop a warrant packet as soon as I could.
Any advice?

[IN] 17F. Will enlisting in the Army help with my parents' path to citizenship?
Hello everyone. I am the 17 year old daughter of two immigrant parents from Honduras. They both have TPS, or Temporary Protection Status. Basically, there was a hurricane in Honduras in 1998, named Hurricane Mitch, which allowed for Hondurans to seek protection in the United States after it severely damaged the Central American country. They both have legally lived in the U.S. for 19 years under TPS.
Recently in the news, they have announced the end of TPS for Hondurans. This information has devasted me, to say the least. I fear for my parents' safety if they were to be deported. They have a total of 5 children, 4 being U.S. citizens and the eldest a Dreamer (DACA). All the kids that are U.S. citizens are under 21. The eldest American child is 19. I am the second oldest American one at 17. My two younger siblings are 14 and 5.
So here is my question. If I were to enlist into the Army at 18, would this ever grant my parents their green card? Can I only help them once I am 21 and able to petition for their green card? Is the process of enlisting faster than waiting for the oldest American child (19) to turn 21 and have them petition for our parents? Will I need an immigration lawyer?
I have heard that if the child enlists, the parent(s?) don't have to leave the country and could take as quickly as 6 months. Ideally, I would like the fastest option that allows for both my mother and father to stay in the United States so that they can earn their green card.
I had actually wanted to enroll into ROTC at a state college and earn my status as a military officer upon completion of the program, which is after 4 years once I earn my Bachelor's. As a cadet in ROTC, will I be able to petition for my parents then, despite not being 21? I believe I am considered a college student once enrolled, but maybe there is an exception for the military program?
If I were to enlist, 68W interests me a lot. I am physically fit and meet the Army's standard for height/weight proportions. I don't have any medical conditions that would disqualify me.
Thank you for your help. I feel a little overwhelmed about the future of my family. Having them deported to Honduras means their death. I am concerned and want to know what the best course of action is to take.

I just finished applying for my last semester in college and I'm currently thinking of enlisting in the Army after I graduate (Dec 2018). I will be getting my degree in Cinema. However, I doubt that I'll ever use this degree since I lost interest in it about a year ago and I didn't change my major due to financial reasons. I've always wanted to serve but decided to go to college first. Is it a bad decision for me to enlist for 4-6 years after college? I really don't want to have any regrets about not serving in the Army later in my life. (Probably go 11b or 89d)
Thanks in advanced

I'm shipping on Tuesday and am starting to get my packing list together. The packing list I got and the one available on line are a bit different. Is it correct that you cannot bring aerosol shaving cream? Should I bring my own running shoes or buy new ones at the PX? Also, should I bring a cancelled check? I already got my direct deposit form filled out and handed it in to my recruiter which I'm assuming she sent in to MEPS. Anything else that is recommended I bring that isn't normally on the packing list? Or is there anything not to bring that a lot of people make the mistake of packing? Also, I'm a female with pretty short hair (about an inch and half scissor cut on the top, #3 guard tapered to a #2 on the back and sides, in regulation with the 1/4 inch minimum length for females). Is it recommended I get one last clean up hair cut before I go? I went to Fort Knox once for Cadet Leadership Course in college, and females were not allowed to have their hair cut at the barbershop with the guys (something about not having a beautician license? Weird.) and it was a project just to finally get to our grimey hair cut at a mall nearby. Do females get an allotted time like after 2 months to have a haircut? For background info I am going to 12B OSUT at Ft Lost in the Woods. Thank you all for your time and responses in advance!

Asatru is a more modern Norse paganism. The more folk belief is that whites are exclusive to it due to ancestors and etc. However the more modern belief is welcoming to all.

I don't know if this would go into the recruiter thread, so please forgive me in advance.
I'm shipping in literally two weeks and I started talking to someone on a discord server who is in the Chair Force. He told me that I was crazy going in enlisted with a BA and that my recruiter is trying to fuck me. I was thinking of going to OCS, not because I look down on enlisted personnel, but because I I want to provide for my fiancee. My recruiter told me that I would have to go enlisted and take part in the Green to Gold program. I accepted it without researching it further. Now I have some dude telling me that I'm being lied to and that they aren't pushing me towards something positive. He's saying I should pull out of DEP. Should I do this? Do I have a shot at OCS?
I have a BA in political science with a 3.4 GPA and an ASVAB score of 98. I'm adding these in here as they seem relevant to my question and overall situation.

Questions about medical waivers:
What's the max number of medical waivers possible?
-I'm FTM transgender. Went through therapy, on a stable medicine regimen, and will be 2 years post-op by the time I enlist. Doesn't affect my life in any way other than taking a shot every 10 days, no other co-morbid mental conditions, etc.
-On Adderall for under two years for "uncategorized attention deficit", not diagnosed as ADHD. Doctor gave it to me because I told her I hated my job and was having issues paying attention, and it was to the point of affecting my work. Got off the meds after I got a new job. Low dose, never had any accommodations or anything like that.
-Surgery to remove an internal abscess in my perineum. Not related to any disease, just a total freak thing that happened to me. I had to have a later surgery to repair a recto-anal fistula that resulted from the first surgery. This happened almost four years ago, no issues since.
-One small kidney stone over 5 years ago, passed on its own without medical intervention. I went to acute care and they gave me some pain meds and told me to chug water till it came out. Afterward they told me it was because I had been dehydrated for a while probably due to having the flu and puking for 2 weeks.
-Bruised my meniscus in a car accident over 5 years ago. I got imaging done to make sure it wasn't anything serious. I went to PT for like a month just to be on the safe side (and because their insurance paid for it). Knee hasn't bothered me since.
-Minor Penicillin allergy. I get hives. Probably going to go to an allergist soon to see if this is even still an issue.
-Surgery for tonsil removal as a kid.
-Went to some family counseling sessions as a kid because my sister had a severe mental illness that was negatively impacting everyone. Was not diagnosed with anything, it was just a family counselor.
Does chiropractic care count as "seeing a doctor"?
-I go occasionally for 'wellness care' (I think it feels good and my insurance covers it so whatever) and have since ~12 y/o with my parents. I don't have severe back pain or anything, but have pain now and again, when I sleep wrong or whatever like anyone else. Frequency of back pain went down a lot after I lost 50 lbs and started exercising regularly.
Other than the list of medical shit, I think I'd be a pretty solid recruit. ~3.5 college GPA, clean criminal record, solid leadership experience, lots of sports as a teenager and now in pretty good shape again. I'd be interested primarily in MI or cyber, but am also open to more action-oriented jobs if possible. I figured the health stuff would probably prevent me from doing stuff like SF or combat arms.

Hello, I'm a non prior service male spouse. My wife is currently going through basic combat training and graduates next month. I have received word from her COC that I can take her via POV from graduation to Fort Lee for AIT (MOS: 91F), and she has to check in the day following graduation by 1700. Her current COC said "weekend passes at Fort Lee will be at the discretion of the people there" pretty much.
So my question is, I have a flight booked to leave Saturday out of Richmond back to Phoenix AZ where I live. However if she has the chance of a weekend pass I'd like to change it to Sunday to spend another day together. I was expecting her to have to check into Fort Lee on that Friday at 1700 and I wouldn't see her again until AIT graduation. Anyone know if they typically issue a weekend pass to married soldiers upon arrival there the first day of AIT?

Short story: I'd like to claim my homeless, disabled mom as a dependent so that A. she can have a home/guaranteed insurance, and B. I can take care of her. Is this possible without having to pay for half of her income? (I would not be able to do that on E-2 pay)
Long story: I took care of my mom for about 3 years until we lost our house. It's not a case of wanting to claim her solely for BAH, I know how to take care of her, and there's no relatives who care enough to give her somewhere to stay. Everywhere I've read says that I would need to be able to provide half of her income, but the thing is that she's separated from my father, and he's giving her more money than I would be able to as a new private without BAH or BAS. Is there a type of dependency that allows me to claim her as a dependent based on medical support, or am I SOL?
Edit: I am not yet in the military, but would be coming in as an E-2.

Several Q's. I try to keep it short:
  • I'm interested in a job where I work with video, audio etc. Considering 46R but the description gives me the impression it's a job where I'm more in front of the camera or people than actually creating content. I suck at public speaking but am very creative. What job would you recommend for a filmmaker?
  • 2 year active duty, yes or no? downsides? am considering National Guard as well --> better option if I want to join army for only 2 years max?
  • I got an f'd up knee from football & lifting. I can run and move without issues out but squats and jumping a lot is very painful. I can push thru but the pain takes days to go away. Is this a disqualifier? If yes: For desk jobs too?

So here is my situation hope someone can help me out.
I was arrested a couple of years ago for a couple of charges (DWI and Possession of controlled substance) my case was dismissed by the DA because of a small infraction by my arresting officer during the traffic stop, so it was dismissed and I had the record expunged or sealed cant remember which.
about 2 years after that I met with a recruiter to see if anything would come up, I was completely honest and told him everything, they did a background check and scanned my finger prints. they said nothing came up.
I also tore my MCL my senior year of high school 5+ years ago, never had surgery was just a partial tear so I had about 4 months of rehab and I don't have any issues with it today. other than that I only broke my wrist is like 6th grade.
The recruiter told me to never bring any of that up again, except the broken wrist, that since I didn't have surgery the knee is fine. and that if he cant find anything about the arrest no one else would either.
Right now I am just working a min. wage job and training for the APFT
I have a 4 year degree and wish to become an officer, planning of going from basic to OCS, is that at all possible?
I plan to go talk to a recruiter in the coming weeks and would just like to get a informed second opinion before I go in. Any advice is very much appreciated.

Can someone help me figure out what my new date of rank should be? I was AD, then got out, went to the IRR for a couple years. Then I separated completely and 6 months later went back active duty. I’ve been trying to get guidance from HRC so I can 4187 the commander to get my shit changed. However I’m not exactly sure how to calculate it.
From what I understand if you are AD and get out completely and come back to AD, you keep your DOR minus the separation time. However I don’t know if I include the IRR time in the DOR calculation. Also, do I need to change my previous ranks as well? If I don’t, they will be listed well before my new BASD, which looks weird. Anyone have any experience in this or have a better understanding than I? Is there an easy calculator online to figure this shit out? Do I need to use that 360 day year bullshit math finance uses as well?

Are you proud to be in the Army? All my NCOs and other people here don't seem to have a very brotherhood like feeling or anything like that. They just show up because it's their job and that's basically it.
Other branch NCOs and lower enlisted I've soon though (mainly in the Air Force and Marines) all seem to be very close with each other and incredibly happy to be where they are and with what branch they're serving. Sure they might complain about day to day stuff but at the end of it it's still always oorah marine corps or still love the AF though.
Is it like this everywhere? Are we just generally not as happy/proud to be in service? I've only been in for a year now so obviously my opinion on things is probably fucked.

I have a bachelors degree in poli sci (I know its a useless degree) the only reason I didn't go OCS is due to an expunged possession of Marijauna charge (in the wrong car at the wrong time) that I felt I needed to disclose.
Hopefully thats enough background. My question is this: What sort of avenues (if at all possible) and realistic timeline can I expect to try and go to OCS later after BCT and AIT? Ive researched green to gold but I already have a degree so I'm not sure if that means I need/can use that to get a masters and go to OCS?

Im a nurse in the civilian world. I have a bachelors in nursing and working full time as a nurse. Ive always wanted to do military nursing and was interested in Army for the potential of trauma focused medicine. I have an EMS background and Im a paramedic as well. So nurse/paramedic in the civilian world.
Ive gone to AMEDD last year to talk about my options. Theres only one thing that is holding me back. My nursing school GPA was a 3.3. The Army per the recruiters Ive talked to says that theres a 3.5 to qualify.
The AMEDD recruiter I spoke to last year told me that I can always apply, or I can work a year and then apply again, making me have a better chance to get in. It may not be right away, but theres the chance of me getting in with a commission and being a nurse in the army.
Then today, I spoke to the Armed Forces office in the strip malls. I spoke to the recruiters there and they told me that theres no chance. Since I dont qualify, theres no chance for me to be a nurse in the army. They then said that theres 2 options. 1) I can go enlisted and be a specialist in a medical field that may/may not be nursing (LPN) at best. or 2) go to OCS and more likely than not, be a non medical officer in the army.
I worked 8 long grueling years to get my RN and my BSN. I paid my nursing dues to get to where I am now. I hate to throw it all away and not work at the level that Ive accomplished so hard for in the civilian work over 0.02 GPA points.
Is this how it is? Or is there another way?
Thank you.

Currently trying to enlist. 95 ASVAB, no criminal record or other hinderance. Only needed a medical waiver for a torn labrem surgery in late 2015. Submitted all needed documents to MEPS, recieved positive waiver, just recieved call that USAREC ultimately gave me a no-go for enlisting in reserves. Recruiting station commander spoke to me about the issue, stated they gave no notes on why. He also stated this could be due to a 'full quota' type situation as of now, though ive recently decided to go active instead. My options given were contact my congressman, try another branch, or try to find more evidence to prove im more physically capable.
Is this usually the case? What would be my best action to take? My doctor ive gotten. All notes and statements from has been difficult and hard to work with the whole time.

In 68W AIT at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Recently, I've been asked if I wanted to go to RASP1. I really would like the experience and better myself and push myself beyond the limit. I want to be someone that I can be proud of. SOCM looks like an amazing training too. However, my family is also worried that it would be dangerous as the 75th Ranger Regiment would be deployed alot and told me to really think about this decision. I feel that if I decline this opportunity, I might never have another chance at it and/or will I regret (not) doing it? My main long term goal is to become a Physician Assistant in the army via IPAP. Will RASP / Ranger lead me to being prepared for being Physican Assistant? I would like some opinions. If you've been offered RASP as a 68W, would you say yes? Why or why not?
Thank you for reading and I hope for some prompt response.

I want to know if it's a good idea to join up.
Some stuff. I currently go to college, but I've only done my first Freshman semester currently, so I'm not too far in. I don't think I'll be able to afford the next years so I thought joining might be a good idea.
I've always wanted to join the Army since I was a little boy but I gave up on that dream because I thought I was no good, that there was something seriously wrong with me and they wouldn't let me join. And by that, I mean I have minor asthma and trouble hearing people when loud noises are around. I also wear glasses/contacts.
I was in JROTC for like, only a week so I don't have any prior military-like experience.
One of the main reasons I decided to start college was because of issues at home, not necessarily abuse but my family doesn't get along well and it's something I wanted to get away from. But with college and not much financial aid, I think I might have to take a different route and if I get accepted into the Army I think that might be worthwhile and I can do my schooling after my service. (I'm an IT major)
I was thinking the Army might better myself too. I rarely eat breakfast and I don't usually get up until the afternoon and I thought that joining would be a good benefit to my self-care and routine to make me more punctual.
This is mostly just a bunch of random thoughts but I was wondering what you guys think.

So I have a medical history of epilepsy, I've never had the shake flop around like a fish on land seizures, mine are basically lightheadedness and nausea. I've had it since I was about 6, I'm 17 now and am controlled under medication, always have been. I talked to my Col. in ROTC and he basically told me I'm royally fucked and should give up, said recruiters will take one look at my history, see the world epilepsy and disqualify me instantly. Probably a dumbass question but would I even stand a chance in joining? Even in scoring a non-combat role? I'm finishing up highscool and want to go to college e.c.t but future isn't looking the brightest to reach what I want. Figured I'd take a shot at the army again, anybody know or think anything?

I read a military forum post where someone was trying to get a 35F/Opt.40 contract, and the OP posted "Operational elements in Ranger Regiment are 11B, 11C, 13F, 25C, and 68W. These MOS's guarantee you to see some action and training."
Will you get any action or combat training at all if you went 35F or is it limited to those MOS's?

Im looking to join the military after I graduate from college next year. I want to be an investigator and I know CID is a good choice, but my degree, economics, doesn’t allow me to join right away, so I guess I’ll do enlisted and try to work my way towards it. Doesn’t anyone know how difficult it or how long it will take to switch jobs from intelligence, which i plan on doing as enlisted first, to CID? I’m looking towards the same thing for the Air Force, from enlisted to SIO, but from the looks of it, it seems that it’s almost impossible to do that. Would the army be a better choice?

This question might sound a little ridiculous and pretentious, but I figured I would ask it anyways just in case. I am trying to pack my classroom/apartment in order to prepare for officer candidate school and basic training in August. I mentioned to another candidate that I was in the process of selling my stuff, and he told me to simply place it in storage because once we are stationed, they Army has movers which will move your stuff for you.
Now, I know that once you are re-stationed as an Officer, they army will do this for you... but will they also move your stuff if you are simply joining and being stationed for the first time? I don't want to pay for storage for 6+ months only to find out that I have no way of getting my stuff to where I am once I am permanently stationed. Any advice is appreciated. I am fine with selling my stuff if needed, but it would be nice to not have to re-buy all my household wares, too.

Hi guys, went to the recruiter today and did a practice ASVAB and then did the iCAT (is this the actual ASVAB? I'm not quite sure).
I got a score of 88 and 110+ in every category (except MM, it was 108) and I was curious what you guys think would be a good MOS for me.
Some information. I did a semester of college for IT but dropped out to pursue this career. I wanted to have a future IT career after I leave the army but there's also an issue if I wanted to advance my IT career through the Army. Most IT jobs seem to be stationary on base, are there any that do field work? My recruiter offered me 25C (Radio), 68A (Biomed), and 42A (HR) but I'm not sure if those would fit me, I'd like something fairly exciting.
Also I find guns really interesting, how they work and everything. Would you recommend any MOS's for that?
I was also considering CBRN or (less likely) Special Forces. How are these?

Hi everyone! I'm back again to ask more about my MOS. I have some questions about choosing an MOS.
Let me run through what I'm looking for.
I'm most skilled in technical stuff. I was in college briefly for an Information and Communication Technologies major but I couldn't afford school anymore so I decided to enlist, but while I was in I did very well for it.
Some places I would like to be stationed in are Japan, Germany, or other decent stations of course. Mostly Japan though (I'd love to see Kyoto sometime). I'd prefer to stay out of the US, though that is mostly because I'd like to experience different cultures as well.
I definitely want to be doing stuff offbase somewhat. Being stuck behind a desk is not something I'm too keen on doing. If I'm stationed somewhere more hostile, I don't mind being on the field sometimes.
I've been looking at some MOS's like the 35 series, Radio OperatoMaintainer, HR, etc but I'm not sold on any of them quite yet.
My ASVAB prescreen scores are as followed.
GT - 128 / CL - 122 / CO - 112 / EL - 115 / FA - 113 / GM - 113 / MM - 108 / OF - 114 / SC - 116 / ST - 118
with an 88 percentile if this stuff matters at all.
Happy to answer any questions but I'll be leaving for my recruiter again in several hours.

2020.06.17 11:47 OccultVolva A brief overview of types, tools, herbs, and ways to cleanse a space for ritual ceremonial from the Pagan past.

(posted this in pagan sub but thought you guys will like it too)
I cannot cover everything (all pagan religions, types or rites, or in depth links other than few wikis) and likely some mistakes in there, but since ‘smudging’ debate keeps popping up I thought it might be a good time to highlight some of the terms or types of scents and cleansing methods used in the past we can easily revive today for Paganaism. Ones that can be less problematic in terms for Indigenous cultural survival. A starting point for anyone who wants to add more variety to their practise than herb bundles alone or looking for the type of old words they can use. Or a starting point to research further for anyone looking to blog about the topics or these types of tools or rituals. Some of the below feature fire and smoke and some don't.
Ancient Greek/Hellenism
A thymiaterion (from Ancient Greek: θυμιατήριον from θυμιάειν thymiaein "to smoke"; plural thymiateria) is a type of censer or incense burner, used in the Mediterranean region since antiquity for spiritual and religious purposes and especially in religious ceremonies.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thymiaterion
Thymiateria were used in antiquity to burn incense during religious rituals such as sacrifices or offerings to the gods. Carved from marble, this thymiaterion is composed of three parts: a stemmed foot, a deep receptacle, and a lid. The deep bowl, which could have held a large amount of costly incense, rests on the spreading tray-like top of the tall foot. The lip of the bowl is scored along the edges to suggest an organic plant pattern. The same pattern is repeated on the domed lid, which is decorated with small ridges and perforated at regular intervals to allow the scented smoke to escape. The top of the lid is flat and undecorated, but a separately-made finial may originally have been attached. The sharp-edged, angular form of the thymiaterion with its decorative ridges imitates metal vessels. Traces of red paint remain on the foot and lid suggesting that the vessel was originally brightly painted.

Herbs
The ancient Greeks used it in their baths and burnt it as incense in their temples, believing it was a source of courage. The spread of thyme throughout Europe was thought to be due to the Romans, as they used it to purify their rooms and to "give an aromatic flavour to cheese and liqueurs".[2] In the European Middle Ages, the herb was placed beneath pillows to aid sleep and ward off nightmares.[3] In this period, women also often gave knights and warriors gifts that included thyme leaves, as it was believed to bring courage to the bearer. Thyme was also used as incense and placed on coffins during funerals, as it was supposed to assure passage into the next life.[4]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyme#History
Greece: the Latin name for mint, Mentha, comes from an ancient Greek myth. The story goes that a water nymph named Minthe had an affair with Hades, the god of the underworld. Hades’ wife, Persephone, was not happy about this and she used her powers to transform the water nymph into a low-growing plant that would be trampled by passersby. Hades could not undo the transformation, but he did give the plant a beautiful fragrance so that when Minthe was trampled, her true beauty would appear in the form of the aroma of mint.
In ancient Greece, mint was used in funerary rituals along with rosemary and other aromatic herbs. The use of mint in funerals and association with death and the afterlife probably had practical reasons and came about because the strong smell of the herb would cover up any decaying odor from the body of the deceased.

Kyphi
Kyphi is a compound incense that was used in Ancient Egypt for religious and medical purposes.
Kyphi is latinized from Greek κυ̑φι for Ancient Egyptian "kap-t", incense, from "kap", to perfume, to cense, to heat, to burn, to ignite.[1][2] The word root also exists in Indo-European languages, with a similar meaning, like in Sanskrit कपि (kapi) "incense", Greek καπνός "smoke", and Latin vapor.
The manufacture of kyphi involves blending and boiling the ingredients in sequence. According to Galen, the result was rolled into balls and placed on hot coals to give a perfumed smoke; it was also drunk as a medicine for liver and lung ailments.[7]
See wiki for full ingredients
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyphi
There is also a type of incense known as jb (referred to on the Stele of Sekerkhabau from Saqqara). The name was written using the hieroglyph for kid (a young male goat) leading some to suggest that it was based on musk. According to Plutarch the Ancient Egyptians burned frankincense in the morning, myrrh at midday and Kyphi (Kapet) in the evening. In addition certain gods were associated with specific types of incense (for example, Hathor was strongly associated with myrrh) and certain types of incense were used for specific ceremonies.
Incense ingredients were either ground and thrown on hot coals or mixed with dried fruit (such as raisins or dates) and formed into small pellets to be burned.

Mesopotamia/Babylonia
The experience of aromatic oils was not just for the Gods, it was felt by the people in and around the spaces where they were burned. This was particularly true within Assyrian culture in northern Mesopotamia. Kiersten Neumann, a Curator and Research Associate at the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, discussed the raw materials connected to aromatics within Assyrian temples: cedar, cypress, juniper, boxwood and fir (terebinth). Service to the gods was performed by elite personnel within the temple. The Arabian peninsula was the principle place to acquire these spices and incenses. Arabic caravans used camels that traveled along a set trade route that then sold these precious substances to those who wished to burn them.

Takpirtu
Takpirtu or Takpertu, inscribed tak-pir-tú and as a gloss to the term šu-gur-gur-meš, and literally meaning “wiping,” from kupurru,[1] “to wipe, rub,” or more generally ““to perform a wiping rite,” were Mesopotamian purification rituals whose oldest attestations go back to the Old Babylonian period. It was an integral part of the Bīt rimki and Bīt salā’ mê rituals and may have been a cleansing rite in its own right as it is listed separately in the Exorcists Manual, perhaps in the form of tak-pir-tú nussētiq, burnt offerings.[2]
Its earliest appearance seems to have been at Mari. Middle Babylonian attestation comes in the form of two references to the supply of grain or flour for the ceremony in temple administrative tablets from Kassite Nippur.[3] In later neo-Assyrian and neo-Babylonian periods it was used for the spiritual cleansing of a field or a building, especially in the temple of the moon god Sîn in Uruk, but also in the context of a person, such as a sick person or the king, a type of cleansing ceremony was accompanied by a liḫšu, whispered prayer, “By the life of Anu and Enlil they are conjured,”[4] or conjuration, "butting evil." Dough was wiped over the thigh of the subject, a scapegoat was sacrificed or carcass of a sheep was used to purify the cella of the temple,[5] which was afterwards cast into the river along with the zisurrû, “magic circle of flour,” and garakku-brazier, a black and white cord.[6]

Mîs-pî
Mîs-pî, inscribed KA-LUḪ.Ù.DA and meaning “washing of the mouth,” is an ancient Mesopotamian ritual and incantation series for the cultic induction or vivification of a newly manufactured divine idol. It involved around eleven stages: in the city, countryside and temple, the workshop, a procession to the river, then beside the river bank, a procession to the orchard, in reed huts and tents in the circle of the orchard, to the gate of the temple, the niche of the sanctuary and finally, at the quay of the Apsû, accompanied by invocations to the nine great gods, the nine patron gods of craftsmen, and assorted astrological bodies
The rituals are for the consecration of a cultic image, a statue formed from a wooden core encased in gold and/or silver, decorated with inlaid precious stones, and dressed in robes. They involve the “washing of the mouth” (mîs-pî proper) on the first day to cleanse the statue of all traces of human contamination in the production of the idol, and the “opening of the mouth” (inscribed KA.DUḪ.Ù.DA, Akkadian: pit pî) performed with syrup, ghee, cedar and cypress on the second to bring it to life, sacraments which may be related to the pit uzni, “ear-opening” ceremony. “On this day be present: for this statue which stands before you ceremoniously grant him the destiny that his mouth may eat, that his ears might hear.”[3] The rituals facilitated the idol taking on the persona of the deity, awakening the supernatural force within it, and enabling it to see, act, eat and drink the offerings and smell the incense:[4] ṣalmu annû ina la pīt pî qutrinna ul iṣṣin akala ul ikkal mêul išatti, “this statue cannot smell incense without the “Opening of the Mouth” ceremony, it cannot eat food nor drink water.”[3] Four exemplars from Hellenic Uruk do not include the pit pî stage, but instead introduce a burnt offering of a brushwood fire, lamentations recited by a kalû-priest and the presence of the monarch. Its application seems to have spread to encompass other objects, such as a ceremonial torch, the hide of a bull which is to cover a lilissu- or kettledrum,[5] the apotropaic figurines used in the Šēp lemutti ritual, the divinatory bag of the barû-priest, the mouth of the river to abate its torrent, and even the jewels adorning a king’s chariot. It seems that the process of mouth-washing was intended to prepare a person or thing for contact with the divine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%AEs-p%C3%AE
Pagan Heathen and Old English
To hallow is "to make holy or sacred, to sanctify or consecrate, to venerate".[1] The adjective form hallowed, as used in The Lord's Prayer, means holy, consecrated, sacred, or revered.[2] The noun form hallow, as used in Hallowtide, is a synonym of the word saint.[3][4][5]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallow
The noun is from the Old English adjective hālig, nominalised as se hālga "the holy man". The Gothic word for "holy" is either hailags or weihaba, weihs. "To hold as holy" or "to become holy" is weihnan, "to make holy, to sanctify" is weihan. Holiness or sanctification is weihiþa. Old English, like Gothic, had a second term of similar meaning, wēoh "holy", with a substantive wīh or wīg, Old High German wīh or wīhi (Middle High German wîhe, Modern German Weihe). The Nordendorf fibula has wigiþonar, interpreted as wīgi-þonar "holy Donar" or "sacred to Donar". Old Norse vé is a type of shrine. The weihs group is cognate to Latin victima, an animal dedicated to the gods and destined to be sacrificed.
Fire in general used to hallow or sanctify an area
In Eyrbyggja saga (bit not in Landnamabok) it is recorded Poroflr carried fire round the land he claimed. This ritual was probably also performed in order to sanctify his new homeland. It is possible that this land was related in one or another sense to the Hof building. This may be supported by other Old Norse texts.

The saga begins with Gotland being discovered by a man named Þieluar (Tjalve) (Gutnish: Tjelvar). He was a mythical figure who shows up twice in the Prose Edda and once in Gutasaga. Gotland is under a spell and under water during the day and out of water only during the night, a spell that is broken by Þieluar lighting a fire on the Island. Þieluar's son Hafþi (Havde) and his wife Vitastjerna (Gutnish: Hwitastierna) had three sons named Graip, Gute and Gunfjaun, the ancestors of the Gutes. After Havde's and Vitastjerna's first night together, she had a dream about three snakes entwined in her bosom. This was interpreted as a symbol that all things are connected in circles and that they would have three sons. The subject is depicted on some of the picture stones on Gotland.

Reocan From Proto-Germanic *reukaną, whence also Old Frisian riāka, Old High German riohhan, Old Norse rjúka. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/reocan#Old_English
Reek From Middle English rek, reke (“smoke”), from Old English rēc, rīec, from Proto-Germanic *raukiz (compare West Frisian reek, riik, Dutch rook, Low German Röök, German Rauch, Danish røg, Norwegian Bokmål røyk), from Proto-Indo-European *rowgi- (compare Lithuanian rū̃kti (“to smoke”), rū̃kas (“smoke, fog”), Albanian regj (“to tan”)).[1] https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/reek
and
however, a term with old english roots that conveys the proper meaning of smoke cleansing in witchcraft: rēcan. pronounced similarly to the modern word “reek,” the term rēcan means: “to fumigate, expose to smoke, cause to emit smoke, or burn as incense.” closely related, the old english word rēocan means: “to emit vapor, steam, or smoke.” the term later evolved into the middle english word reken, meaning “to emit smoke.” while the word was not exclusively used to refer to foul smells, it lost much of its original meaning as it evolved into the modern day “reek,” which is now associated only with unpleasant stenches. given its old english roots and lackluster definition, the term rēcan makes an eloquent and appropriate moniker for the smoke cleansing performed in non-native practices of witchcraft and paganism.

Nine Herb Charm (herb ideas)
The "Nine Herbs Charm" is an Old English charm recorded in the tenth-century CE[1] Anglo-Saxon medical compilation known as Lacnunga, which survives on in the manuscript London, British Library, Harley 585.[2] The charm is intended for the treatment of poisoning and infection by a preparation of nine herbs. The numbers nine and three, significant in Germanic paganism and later Germanic folklore, are mentioned frequently within the charm.[2] The poem contains references to Christian and English Pagan elements, including a mention of the major Germanic god Woden.

Apple Wassail old rites but later by ancient standards for blessing crops and trees
The Apple Wassail is a traditional form of wassailing practiced in the cider orchards of southern England during the winter. There are many well recorded instances of the Apple Wassail in the early modern period. The first recorded mention was at Fordwich, Kent, in 1585, by which time groups of young men would go between orchards performing the rite for a reward. The practice was sometimes referred to as "howling". On Twelfth Night, men would go with their wassail bowl into the orchard and go about the trees. Slices of bread or toast were laid at the roots and sometimes tied to branches. Cider was also poured over the tree roots. The ceremony is said to "bless" the trees to produce a good crop in the forthcoming season. Among the most famous wassail ceremonies are those in Whimple, Devon and Carhampton, Somerset, both on 17 January.

Saining
Saining is a Scots word for blessing, protecting or consecrating.[1] Sain is cognate with the Irish and Scottish Gaelic seun and sian and the Old Irish sén - "a protective charm."[2][3][4]
Traditional saining rites may involve water that has been blessed in some fashion, or the smoke from burning juniper, accompanied by spoken prayers or poetry.[2][3] Saining can also refer to less formal customs like making religious signs to protect against evil, such as the sign of the cross. In Shetland, the Scottish folklorist F. Marian McNeil refers to the custom of making the sign of Thor's hammer to sain the goblet that was passed around at New Year's celebrations.[5]
An old Hogmanay (New Year's) custom in the Highlands of Scotland, which has survived to a small extent and seen some degree of revival, is to celebrate Hogmanay with the saining of the household and livestock. Early on New Year's morning, householders drink and then sprinkle 'magic water' from 'a dead and living ford' around the house (a 'dead and living ford' refers to a river ford that is routinely crossed by both the living and the dead). After the sprinkling of the water in every room, on the beds and all the inhabitants, the house is sealed up tight and branches of juniper are set on fire and carried throughout the house and byre. The juniper smoke is allowed to thoroughly fumigate the buildings until it causes sneezing and coughing among the inhabitants. Then all the doors and windows are flung open to let in the cold, fresh air of the new year. The woman of the house then administers 'a restorative' from the whisky bottle, and the household sits down to its New Year breakfast.[6] Saining with juniper was also used in healing rites, where the evil eye was suspected to be the cause of the illness, but it apparently fell out of use by the end of the nineteenth century after a young girl with respiratory problems suffocated due to the amount of smoke that filled the house.[7]
Saining is a common practice in modern traditions based on Scottish folklore, such as blessing and protecting children and other family members.[2][3] While many of the surviving saining prayers and charms are Christian in nature,[2][3] others that focus on the powers of nature are used as part of Gaelic Polytheist ceremonies.[8][9]

Smàladh – Smooring the Hearth Fire
Each household would have a hearth fire over which all the household food would be prepared, and around which the most important aspects of family life would happen. The hearth fire would traditionally have been kept alight all year long in both Scotland and Ireland, with the exception of Bealltainn eve when it was extinguished and then relit from a flame brought from a communal bonfire to ensure health and prosperity upon the household in the coming year.1 It was a matter of pride and superstition not to let the flame die out even in the height of summer, and many households could boast that their hearth had remained alight for several generations – even centuries. If the fire did die out, it was said “the soul goes out of the people of the house.”2
Smooring, therefore – a Scots word usually translated as ‘smothering,’ but perhaps more accurately ‘subduing’3 – was a process by which the fire was dampened down so it would not need tending, and therefore could be left safely alight during the night. In Ireland, it was said that the Good Folk would be displeased if they arrived at a house during the night to find that there was no fire for them.4 In Ireland, a charm such as this was said as the fire was covered with the ashes: “Coiglim an tine seo mar choigleann Críost cáidh; Muire ar mhullach an tí, agus Bríd ina lár; An t-ochtar ainglí is tréine i gCathair na nGrás Ag cumhdach an ti seo ‘s a mhuintir thabhairt slán. I save this fire, as noble Christ saves;
Mary on the top of the house and Brigid in its centre;
the eight strongest angels in Heaven
preserving this house and keeping its people safe.)”6
These days it’s not really possible for most households to keep a flame burning all year round, if at all. As a result, the ritual becomes more symbolic, something to be done as you go up to bed and make sure all the lights and appliances are switched off, for example. The following rune is just one example of a smooring that was recorded by Carmichael. I tend to visualise the sacred three as being the gods, the ancestors and the nature spirits: Smooring the fire

Sweeping
In Romanian lore, the besom is a potent object which becomes truly magical at special occasions. For example, for Marina’s Day which is celebrated in Romania on July 17, mothers celebrate Marina, the protector of the souls of dead children, by crafting brooms with bristles made out of Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and offering them to each other alongside flowers, corn, and chicks, and they keep the brooms which they use to sweep their homes and yards. They believe that these special brooms not only sweep away the dirt, but also bad luck and spirits such as the strigoi. Strigoii, which are believed to mount the brooms of the villagers to go to their nocturnal gatherings on the nights of Sângiorz (April 23) and Sântandrei (November 30), were unable to mount the brooms made of Wormwood. The Wormwood broom is also used by the Romanian people to bring someone back home, to sweep away evil forces, and even illness by sweeping around the ill. The broom is also a potent tool against Muma Pădurii (the mother of the forest). For this, the broom of the witch or the disenchantress or the broom of the mother whose child is haunted by the mother of the forest is used during a disenchanting ritual by sweeping the entrance to the home or by placing it next to the child’s bed. In all the spells and charms where the broom is used to repel something evil, the disenchantress or the witch always says to said evil to leave and go far away “because I will sweep you with the broom” (“Că eu cu mătura te-oi mătura”) otherwise.

2020.06.17 11:21 OccultVolva A brief overview of types, tools, herbs, and ways to cleanse a space for ritual ceremonial from the Pagan past.

2020.04.01 12:46 Agamidae Today's CK3 Q&A with the developers, April 1st

Q: Any fun bugs you had with religion?
A: When we first got art assets for Christian priest robes, we blocked priests from wearing non-religious clothing. However, since we blocked non-religious clothing for all priests but only has special robes for Christian priests, the priests of every non-Christian faith collectively shrugged and decided to walk around naked.
Q: will zoroastrian be a religion in base game?
A: Yep!
Q: Will you be able to make a same sex positive religion?
A: You can make same-sex relations acceptable, but marriage will still only be opposite due to historical constraints
Q: How diverse are the different Pagan religions?
A: There is a lot of different pagan faiths of many kinds!
Q: How will pagan reformation work in this game?
A: stay tuned for the next dev diary
Q: In the Dev Diary 18 it is mentioned that mercenaries will have an upfront cost equivalent to three years of pay. In the march video uppdate, two years upfront cost is mentioned. Which is it?
A: This is a matter of balance, so is subject to change, but currently 3 years
Q: Will there be recommandations for what someone who is new to CK Should Play as for example what Nation?
A: the tutorial ireland is a good start
Q: Will Scotland have clan or tribal government?
A: Scotland is Feudal in 1066, Tribal in 867
Q: is the multiplayer mode gonna be more stable if there's gonna be one? I'd love to play some ck3 agot mp
A: we've definitely aimed for MP stability! So hopefully!
Q: how many dead religions there will be?
A: It depends on the start date, there's more of them in 1066. Generally there's not that many, but a few notable examples are Hellenism and Zunism.
Q: Can you have an "agnostic" faith of a religion? Or do you always have a "real" faith and other traits show your fevor?
A: Everyone always belongs to a faith
Q: Will there be polyandry in doctrines?
A: Yes, if you set Polygamous Marriage along with Female Dominated. Female Rulers will then be able to have up to 4 husbands.
Q: will the magyars religion be separate in any way from tengrism?
A: Yes, they're separate
Q: For custom religions, how will we choose an icon for the religion?
A: There's a set of icons to select from for each religion. More info on this in the next dev diary most likely
Q: Will there be cultures like in CK2 formed in special enviroments like the Norman or the English? And will there be some a bit alt-history for unlikely combinations?
A: we will have roughly the same melting pot cultures as CK2, English and Swedish etc.
Q: If a player is the leader of a faction, do they need to wait for the Discontent to reach 100% in order to send their ultimatum?
A: The player can bypass this requirement
Q: In the crime doctrines, can "crimes" be encouraged as well? Or even mandatory
A: You can set the crimes to 'Allowed', where there are no penalties and characters will gain certain traits (like Witch) openly. You can not currently make them mandatory.
Q: Will we be able to create custom heresys based on real religions
A: I don't see why not.
Q: How much does tactically planning your army helps? Can you beat an army of 5000 levies with only 500 good men-at-arms?
A: 5000 vs. 500 you'll almost certainly lose, but 5000 levies vs. a couple thousand men at arms with a good commander might go the other way
Q: will there be polandry and polygamy in same sex marriages?
A: There's no same sex marriage due to historical constraints
Q: out of curiosity, did you use the "sacred lies" tenet (or a similar unusual one) for one of your premade religions?
A: sacred lies is not used in any existing faiths, but for your own heretical desires....
Q: Will there still be MP cap?
A: We do not have a hard cap on the number of players, though if you play with several hundred people you're likely to run into issues
Q: Will autocephalous Orthodox Churches be considered as separate Faiths?
A: We will not have autocephaly as a mechanic on release
Q: 1. I didn't see Zoroastrianism in the dev diary, will it be in the game? 2. I saw that Catholicism and Orthodoxy had art in the background of churches. Will all religions have similar art? 3. Will Hellenism be in the game at launch or is it something that will be considered later?
A: They are in yes
Q: Can lifestyle traits be sins/virtues?
A: There are a few lifestyle traits that can be sins or virtues, but it isn't common. This can be modded, of course
Q: Can we expect more detailed vassal contracts in the future? Like split tax/vassal obligations, war participation, etc
A: It is a system we do want to expand upon at some point
Q: What are some spicy mechanics in multiplayer to mess with your friends
A: There is plenty of ways to mess with people in MP
Q: Will we see Hellenism in the base game?
A: Yes
Q: will we have specific national units for each nation or just culture specificc units?
A: Only cultural
Q: Will there be more muslim religions such as Ibadi?
A: There are far more variants of Islam in CK3 than CK2
Q: Has the Slavic Faith changed in anyway if so how?
A: With the new Tenet and Doctrine system all pagan faiths, including Slavic, are more differentiated/unique based on their historical traditions.
Q: Will religions such as the old Greco-Roman and Celtic faiths be present in the files?
A: There will be some dead faiths in the files for historical characters
Q: Can you still take prisoners and artifacts from raiding?
A: You can take prisoners and gold. Artifacts will not be in CK3 at launch.
Q: with part of the martial focus only increasing knight effectiveness/numbers will the pagans have a special unit equal to the knight, or will pagans just have different martial skills?
A: Pagans also have knights, just under a different name. E.G., for Scotland in 867 they're called "Champions"
Q: will Romuva get any flavor?(as in flavor events, decisions etc)
A: Yes
Q: is it planned to be able to "downgrade" from a feudal government to a tribal one? Or move to a clan government? Basically, how do changing one country's government go?
A: Generally switching governments down like will not be a thing
Q: are the dead faiths part of the 99 faiths count?
A: Yes they are counted in that 99
Q: will Giraffes be in CK3?
A: Not yet...
Q: to whoever answers this, what's your favourite tenet so far?
A: Adorcism :possessed~1:
Q: If I remember correctly, it has been mentioned that the AI in CK3 will be less random than in CK2. How will this be achieved?
A: There's plenty of randomization in some AI systems, and less in others. E.G., troop movement has very little randomization, while building construction has quite a bit (but has weighting to ensure bad choices aren't made). We haven't quantified how the amount compares to CK2, but it has had more thought put into where randomization makes sense
Q: How moddable will be succession systems?
A: Quite moddable! You can mod the weights for elective types and who is valid voters, for non elective you can still choose when they can be enacted and the methods of building valid heirs from a few options
Q: Will spiriutal heads like the Pope be playable, will we be able to be chosen as them from bishops etc.
A: Theocracies (including the Catholic Pope) are not playable. Only Temporal Heads of Faith (such as the Muslim Caliphs, or other created religious heads) can be played.
Q: will the map extend itself to European Atlantic islands or will we only have a few of the canaries again?
A: The map ends just west of the Canaries. The whole Western African coast is in
Q: Can we play as character with too exotical confession like with matriarchal clergy and supporting lesbian polygamy? :)
A: Sure. Though there's no same-sex marriage due to historical constraints
Q: How moddable will heresy/reformation system be?
A: Very moddable, as with everything in the faith system its controlled via our moddable text files!
Q: will we see the return of the Fylkir, or will reforming Germanic Paganism take a more true-history approach?
A: If you reform the faith to have a Head of Faith, it will have a Fylkir.
Q: Seeing how can you mod religions in the game (very cool stuff, btw) is there a cap, for example to how much Holy Sites you can have? Meaning, can you have less than 5? And more importantly, can you have as much as you want?
A: There's no hard cap. You can have more or less than 5. The vast majority of faiths in CK3 have 5, but there are some that have more (E.G., Hindus)
Q: Will athieism be a possible "religion"?
A: Atheism as a faith sort of goes against the entire point of a faith, atheism is the lack of believing in a faith and a religion, and even then at best in medieval society being an Atheist was not something at all common if even a thing at all, and if you were one it would at best be a secret that you were a non-believer The closest you're really gonna get is the cynical trait, cause being so openly atheist was not really a thing in those times as far as I've seen in research, and in most faiths if you were you'd almost instantly be declared a heretic and hunted down
Q: any special events or artifacts for reforming a religion?
A: You receive a special event, but there will not be artifacts in CK3 on release.
Q: Will we be able to change in-game whether an event should be a Notification or a Toast, similar to what we can do in CK2 with low/high priority messages and the pop-ups?
A: That is not planned for release
Q: will it be possible to set up your own head of religion if you don't like the caliph/pope?
A: You can make your own faith
Q: Can Orthodox people crusade?
A: They cannot crusade
Q: How playable is the game right now?
A: Very
Q: are children of destiny a thing in ck3?
A: No, at least not yet...
Q: How far east will the map go? Will it be the same as CK2?
A: The game goes as far East as Burma, so slightly further than CK2
Q: Will I able to alter the doctrines of existing religions over the centuries or will every change create a new heresy? For example, if I am powerful enough, will I be able to change the doctrines of the Catholic church over time to the point that the Pope is a woman who practices witchcraft with her four husbands or will I have to create a whole new heresy for that?
A: The codebase does supports having Faiths change their doctrines over time. Unfortunately we will not have any content that takes advantage of this on release (my dream of sponsoring new ecumenical councils sadly did not make the final cut) but we hope to add that stuff in later patches. Mods, of course, can also do whatever they like with this.
Q: will hinduism be one faith?
A: No, the Hinduism Religion is comprised of many different Faiths
Q: Will there be able to be female bishops or, maybe even female popes? I'd love a Momacy
A: If your religion allows female priests then yes
Q: can multiple military groups engage in one combat and is there any advantage to doing so? E.g. attacking from 2 directions
A: There's no concept of directions in combat other than river crossings
Q: will there be a different training system? as in will you be able to train infantrymen into different groups of people? that'd be interesting
A: No. There's a levy system and a men at arms system, as well as mercenaries.
Q: will clan government only be possible to mulims?
A: Not just Muslims
Q: Will my lustful son bring me shame?
A: Depending on your faith's sins and virtues
Q: Since Islam is being heavily split up, how will that affect what countries will defend against crusaders?
A: Great holy wars targeting a kingdom will target everyone of a hostile faith within the kingdom, so that can result in multiple faiths being targeted. Right now though, only the primary target's faith will have people from outside the kingdom joining. It's possible this might change
Q: how similar is the ck3 syntax compared to ck2, i.e. will it be a somewhat smooth transition, and what editor do you use for the txt files?
A: Its different enough that you cannot copy paste anything from CK2 really, but similar enough you can probably see what to change. Most people here use either Sublime Text or Visual Studio Code for their work in the text files, or if they are a sinner Notepad++
Q: If you can give a rough estimate, when will the map reveals come? I.e. are we talking just before launch or earlier?
A: Yes
Q: Will my character suddenly forget how to navigate rivers if they convert away from Asatru? And can we please have river harbors?
A: River navigation is cultural rather than religious
Q: Those three categories, Abrahamic, Pagan and Oriental, would seem to struggle with some religions which don't fit into any of those categories such as Zoroastrianism. Are there more categories or do they just end up under one of the others?
A: We just have those 3 currently. While it is possible this will be expanded after release (or with mods) the current system does what we need it to do. More details will be coming in our Fervor and Heresy Dev Diary in several weeks which will explain why we set it up that way.
Q: What do I stand to gain siding with a peasant revolt or 'popular uprising if one should appear?
A: You cannot side with the peasants as you are well a noble  But if you side with the populists by joining their faction and they then win you will of course get the benefits of the faction fulfilling their demands
Q: Are Bulgarian and Serbian Orthodox Churches a separate Faiths?
A: No, Orthodoxy is one Faith.
Q: is it possible for you to create an alien invasion DLC to tie into Stellaris? Like, have a chance that in 1200 ad some space ships will land and try to take over?
A: Possible? Yes. Likely? No.
Q: Are there going to be family trees in the game? If yes, can you go back to Charlemagne or Mohammed?
A: we do have dynasty trees yes
Q: will the map go any further south in Africa?
A: The map includes the entire Western African coast; it goes almost to the equator
Q: In the timespan of the game we saw the rise and fall of countless kingdoms and empires, especially in the Muslim world. What systems do you have in place to make sure that for example the Abbasids or the Umayyads will collapse and won't just blob into Europe/Africa/Middle East without resistance?
A: Clans, being very opinion-driven, see much more of an up-and-down in realm stability. A poor Clan ruler is much more likely to collapse their realm than it was in CK2.
Q: What's your favourite ruler to play as currently?
A: Matilda of Tuscany for sure!
Q: Will you be able like in Holy Fury to secretly convert (or fasely convert)? And what kind of impact will someone with a secret faith have on gameplay?
A: We don't have secret religions like in Monks and Mystics, but some Faiths do have a 'False Conversion' Tenet that behaves similarly.
Q: Can we make a province a Holy Site?
A: Holy sites are currently static
Q: Will the sympathy for others religion work same as in CK2?
A: Not like in CK2 but there are some tenants that effect how faiths view each other
Q: will there be Varangian Guard still as mercenaries or as something else?
A: Yes they exist as mercs!
Q: How are faiths where people choose one of multiple gods in a pantheon to follow represented? Will it be possible to create such custom faiths?
A: Some Hindu Faiths have a 'Bhakti' Tenet which allow followers to devote themselves to a single god. Custom Hindu Faiths keep this feature, but allowing other Faiths to do this will require mods.
Q: will concubines be tied to religion, culture or both?
A: Concubines is tied to the doctrines of your faith
Q: Will it still be possible to demand that vassals convert to your faith?
A: Yes, but it's a much more involved process now.
Q: Will iberan christians have any kind of special event (Beyond crusade) to have a chance of reconquer the peninsula?
A: Iberian Christians do have several special advantages when it comes to reconquering Iberia.
Q: will women get any major debuffs that weren't in ck2?
A: Depends on your faith and how equal they are, the debuffs and double standards depend on how your faith views the acts of men and women
Q: How hard was it to stop at 99 faiths and not find a weird religion forgotten in the annals of history for that sweet, sweet round 100?
A: Reaching 99 Faiths was actually a complete accident. We did not have a goal to reach any specific number of Faiths, we just added them where we felt they were needed.
Q: Have you developers had the opportunity to play the game on your own yet as in a (nonpublic) CK3 dev clash for example?
A: We do weekly multi player sessions, or if that is not possible with enough people single player time, and many of us also play single player ourselves at home
Q: is there any new ways to take over countries that dont involve warfare?
A: Not new, no. Warfare and inheritance are the ways to expand. And title/vassal grants from your liege, of course. You can also request someone become your vassal, much like in CK2
Q: What will be the mechanics behind crusader orders? Will they just appear for hireing or found crusader states and have holdings like the Teutonic order or Livonian? Will this happen progressively through the game or just in start dates?
A: We have holy orders coming up, so stay tuned for that once it is out
Q: the diary said that one could not only play as different sects, but also as a school of thought within those sects such an in Asha’ri and Isma’ili. How will that work and will there be differences between these.
A: Each school of thought is represented as a different Faith. What doctrines those Faiths have will determine if that Faith is considered to be Sunni or Shia, and this how other Faiths perceive them.
Q: Will the Aztecs show up on the shores of Europe in CK3?
A: No
Q: Can we wait different confessions in Asatru, Suomenusko, Rodnoverie (Slavic paganism) and other paganies?
A: Different confessions of the various pagan Faiths will not exist on game start, but they can be created during the course of the game itself.
Q: Would it be possible to usurp the Papacy, if a higher (feudal) title is held?
A: You cannot usurp religious head titles
Q: how moddable is the map? Is it easier to make a map than in ck2?
A: you can fully mod the map and we, like Imperator, have tools built into the game for doing so
Q: how will magyars be able to reform their own faith?
A: Same way as everyone else
Q: what was one of the hardest religions to find accurate sources for?
A: The native Mali faith was tricky
Q: Will there be a faction or intrigue plan to overthrow the king/emperor in some way?
A: There are claimant factions
Q: How will flavor titles adapt together with custom religions? For example what will determine what a Christian "Caliph" will be called, or what a Suomenusko Pope or Caliph be called, what a Islamic "Pope" would be called, or what a custom-religion King or Priest would be called?
A: Each Faith has localization defined for it's Religious Head Title. This title is used regardless of if the Religion Head is spiritual or temporal.
Q: Will it be possible to play as the pope ?
A: Not that Pope, but maybe you can become your own Pope :eyes:
Q: If you receive a nickname like "the drunkard" and then conquer the entirety of europe, will your nickame change to, say "the conqueror" , or will your vassals still remember you as the guy who passed out drunk that one time?
A: Nicknames can get replaced, and we've got priorities for more "significant" nicknames. "Conqueror" would take priority over "Drunkard"
Q: Will the church try to make you "disappear" in case you will make some big science work public? (Like saying that Earth is a globe like in CK2)
A: Medieval people generally all already knew the Earth was round, its a myth that they thought it was flat
Q: will you be able/need to change localiztion when creating a new faith?
A: Stay tuned for the next dev diary on creating a new faith
Q: Will heresies like Lollardy be in the game continuously (like Ck2) or appear when they historically appear? Will we get events to notify us they appeared?
A: We have minor and major heresy outbreaks, and your example of Lollardy can appear at any time as part of an outbreak. Lollardy will tend to appear in the british isles, any faith tied to a specific region wil ltend to appear in it. This can be modified with Game Rules.
Q: if you are the religious had through reformation. Will you be able to excommunicate, grand claims and or make characters saints? And is this something that might be added later?
A: For balance reasons only Spiritual (unplayable) Heads of Faith can excommunicate characters. Temporal Heads of Faith have a different, slightly more limited option with the Religious Law tenet, which has similar penalties but can only be used by high Learning characters on sinful vassals.
Q: How much of an impact do traits have on the way you play the game?
A: Quite a bit! For example each personality trait matters more than before hence not being as many on each character, in both how an AI will act and how a player will deal with their events
Q: will you keep the sunset invasion in late game ?
A: No
Q: I sent in big "effortposts" a while back about Baltic paganism(which I stopped due to irl issues, but now that I actually have a PC I might restart but doubt), where they considered when writing stuff for Romuva?
A: Yes
Q: Will cultures have more flavour to them as in CK2 or will most of them have "no special cultural effects"?
A: We will talk more about culture in a later dev diary
Q: is it possible to field full calvary armies?
A: You could, but there's no reason to; you'd have to disband your levies to do so. But all your men at arms could certainly be cavalry
Q: will each culture when reforming an religion will have cultural names? For example if a Lithuanian reforms Romuva there is Perkūnas, but when a prussian does so there is Perkūns?
A: No, but that could be modded in.
Q: Will CK3 be an awesome time devouring masterpiece of a game ? It sure looks like it’s heading that way !
A: We sure hope so
Q: Is Slavic paganism a single Faith, or is divided into multiple ones?
A: Single Faith.
Q: Is there any chance that it can be like in CK2 where if you could raid you could also raid over the sea? That really made raiding fun.
A: The Norse are able to raid overseas
Q: what will be the earliest start date
A: 867 is the earliest
Q: will the government be fully based on religion?
A: Nope
Q: How have your thinking been when you consider what start dates should be present at launch?
A: Popularity and maintenance cost
Q: Will there be more interactions with pets at events? and more events?
A: There are some events about you and your beloved animals...
Q: will there be tenants that modify how goverments work?
A: The 'Unreformed' doctrine will affect how it is to play Feudal/Clan, it will not be easy... Unreformed pagans will do best staying tribal, and converting/reforming before turning Feudal.
Q: Will we still be able to declare war with an army of Mercenaries and Men-at-Arms a day away from the enemy border?
A: No, you can't start a war while you have any troops raised. You might have mercenaries hired, but not raised
Q: How are disabilities, be it mental or physical, represented?
A: As respectfully as possible. While they do have character penalties associated with them, we strove to ensure the penalties were as medically accurate and took care to avoid falling back on stereotypes.
Q: can you be Spartan?
A: I think you might be thinking about Imperator if you want to do that
Q: Can you have mercenaries hired, but not raised?
A: Yes
Q: what is the most morally repugnant thing a character in game has done to do during your playtesting(be it because of a bug or otherwise)?
A: One AI kep imprisoning my easter egg character and beheading me, that was pretty harsh
Q: In the early muslim faith there was only one Caliph, that was both militar and theologic leader of all muslims, until an Omayyad ran away to Hispania and proclaimed himself Caliph, meaning that he was the religion leader of his realm. Is there going to be a consequence to a muslim ruler becoming emperor tier? Seeing how in real life that meant being some kind of anti pope?
A: - We will not have this on release, but we do plan to expand the religious head system in later patches which may include something like this. Mods, of course, are free to add anything they want to help model this kind of interaction.
Q: Will mercs still be able to raid?
A: No they cannot

2020.03.10 22:24 Jonatho1 I’m a nonbeliever currently dating a Christian girl, she wants me to convert

I’ve been an Asatru pagan for quite some time now. For all of my life I’ve never thought of religion and never cared for it. I became Asatru a few years back and have been a strong believer. I started dating a girl not too long ago and I want a future with her, family and all. But she has just asked if I would be open to Christianity. I have found this to be quite the problem because as I have stated I’m not the religious type of guy. I figured I’d ask for some advice on what I should do.

2019.12.14 00:59 Undertowsurfer My story. Terrified to share. Here goes. TW: literally everything

I feel like my existence has been the most fucked up thing to happen to me. (I’m sure you can all relate if suffering) here’s the truth.
I was raised unconventionally, the “I wish I was her” lifestyle. Unschooled/homeschooled. My mom always made sure I had the coolest shit, I never went to a public school for more than a year.
And I damn sure rarely had friends because my family was elitist as fuck and we moved ALL the time.
We started out Jehovah’s Witness at 6, Atheist by 8, Asatru by 10. Hardcore New Age spirituality by 14. My schoolwork at age 12 was composed of studying the 48 laws of power, Machiavelli, and getting my ass beat if I put too much dressing on my mom’s salad.
My mom refound and married her first love, a man she found imprisoned. We spent every weekend at prisons, moving and following him around when he was moved from facility to facility. I was taught how to squat if I dropped something to desexualize my 11 year old body from the chomo table and the creeps that worked for the canteen.
We had a family cult called “4” and I was raised to believe my biological father was a POS when he’s actually the opposite. I’ve tried to bring these issues up to my mother, but she tries to say they didn’t happen even though I have many witnesses.
I’ve suffered with anxiety ALL of my life and I basically just swallow benzos in a corner in my little brothers room now.
I ran away from home at 14, to a podunk town where I met the only real friends I ever had met and I felt safe with them. We drank and partied a lot. Lots of physical violence. I finessed my own apt from an old man at 14 thanks to a push up bra and well applied makeup.
Older guys started to try to rape me often. I was a very beautiful and naive girl, as intelligent as I was, I was still A CHILD. I was only fully raped twice, other dudes just jacked off on me, while I froze because I don’t know what to do and smile my way out of it afterwards. Somehow I was able to get over it back then.
Or maybe suppress it all until now.
The man who raised me was murdered when I was 16, and because I abandoned my family I got close to a family I could call “mine”. Less than a year later, the husband shot his wife and 5 year old daughter in the head.
I started dating my childs father at 15. He was 20. I had my first true nervous breakdown at 16, He threw me on the side of the road after forcing me into anal sex even though I didn’t want to. He basically told me to fuck off, and from there I walked on foot until I found a dope house that was suitable to my needs. I started working immediately and tbh the meth heads at the dope house loved me more than most people. Never got raped there, they actually made sure I was taken care of. Until one day I found out all the rent I had been paying them was just for their meth. A random landlord screamed at me one day and said I was illegally living there when the roommates had all conveniently disappeared.
I grabbed my bong and purse and left everything all behind again.
Repeat above situation ^
I got back with my child’s father, pregnant at 17, and now 26 years old, in a lengthy and anxiety riveting custody case for my son. His father developed a big porn addiction and an even worse opiate addiction; railing 250mg oxy, daily. I left him at 19.
And finally, I found 4 months of true PEACE at 23!!! First time sober from alcohol and cigarettes since 15 as well, minus my pregnancy and breastfeeding.
I was no longer depersonalizing. I developed the strength to get my license. I got a huge cheap house and took care of everyone I could find who came from shit, on my camming income. My unwavering positivity kept me sane during the usual panic.
Until I met the devil.
He showed up at my door as everything i dreamed of. Of course, I did NOT listen to my intuition. His actions were damn near perfect. I convinced myself If was just fear. Until I found out it was all a lie. We became very abusive to each other and NEITHER of us could leave. He cheated on me constantly, lied to me just as much, lovebombed me with gifts, money, anything to make me stay. and continued to be abusive. He tried to murder me for 4 hours, I cut his body up for cheating on me. Sick shit. Even the fact that he told me I could and I DID IT, eats at me everyday.
Therapy is worthless. They can’t help a case as complex as mine. I really just posted this to let people know you are NOT alone. I’ve barely skimmed my life here, I promise 8/10 times I’ve probably experienced it too. I suffer with deep depression, blown out adrenals from CPTSD, constant obsessive compulsive thoughts about death, my existence, tall buildings, literally ANYTHING my mind can get rolling on. I can’t drive, I can’t swim. I can’t do shit. and the anxiety that has never ever left my side. I fear all I will ever be is a fucking waste of space. “Your energy is so enticing” “you’re always just so positive and glowing” blah blah. all nasty quotes from rapey men. If anything I feel like people have sucked all of the light out of me. The innocence. Just really everything.
I no longer have my “real friends” as much as I’ve desperately tried to call out for them. They all fucked my boyfriends or took credit cards out in my name anyways so actually it’s not worth it. I’m somehow sane enough to be a pretty decent and super loyal friend at the very least. (Minus my crazy emotional outbursts of crying panic or saying/overthinking shit that isn’t real)
Just know once again; you’re not alone. I just left that relationship. I CANT work. (Recently tried to get a job and my boss tried to rape me.) I have no idea who I am. I haven’t been able to feel my arm for months and I ALSO left a cult. The trauma is a fucking lot. And the only thing that I’ve been having success with is subconscious reprogramming. Basically taking responsibility for my whole life and asking “what is this trying to teach me” versus “why did that all happen to me”
You are loved. So much. Thank you for holding space for me. I am here for all of you.

2019.10.14 09:11 ByronEugene When and How Do You Celebrate the Beginning of Winter (Winter's Nights, Vetmætr, Wintrafullth, Winterfylleth, etc)?

The Norse have the three nights of Winter's Nights (Vetmætr), which some celebrate around the autumn equinox, others mid October, and still others on October 31 (found this last date on the The Asatru Community website). The Anglo-Saxons have Winterfylleth which they celebrate mid-October (the full moon of October, which is yesterday or today). I'm not sure about Continental Heathens, but I'm sure it varies according to which tribes you follow as to the name and the date (I found the Old Saxon name of Wintrafullth thanks to the Longship website) . My question is, what is your main focus for the day(s), when do you observe it, and what traditions do you have to observe it?

2019.09.08 03:26 IdunnSpring The Crazy Lady That Called Herself a Witch

Hi hello sorry if this story is long or it doesn't fit into this but since it's storytime I figured why not share? But first I'mma get a few things out of the way. I'm a studying pagan (Asatru to be exact) and before I learned more about it when I was looking at the internet for more information, I knew this one crazy Chick who called herself a witch. (We shall call her Q) She would have candles, owned a black cat, would use sage to cleanse people because she said she could "see the supernatural" which is a long story within itself as to why I think she lied about that too. She was also a part of the Asatru branch, so I mostly looked to her for information and help and stuff but I found out that she worships Loki and Thor, but... She mostly has the idea of them from Marvel... And not the actual Edda for some reason?? (Edda are the stories of the gods and stuff) as my friendship with her grew, I got to know her more and more and she felt more and more off as I did. I got to know her mostly from my DnD group because she was the gf to one of the guys in the group. Well a couple months pass by and we're all hanging out and at the time I started dating one of the guys from the group. She got really really mad my bf because we all teased her for mispronouncig the name Bjorn (which I know a lot of people don't know how to pronounce it, but she's seen Vikings and there's literally a main character by that name in the show!) And we all teased her (like about 5/6 people altogether, her not included) and she singled out my bf for some reason. That weekend was one of our other friends' bachelorette party that Q was invited along for as well as our gay friend (because fuck yeah) and she focused the entire time on my bf and how he stepoed outta line and that she wants to curse him for what he did. When they got back, Q and my bf got into a fight and it all escalated quickly. She ended up screaming at him that he's going to go to hell for what he did and that she now curses him and me to not be able to have children in the future. (Which being a Slav, we take that sort of thing pretty seriously deoending where we're from) so we left quickly after that. A couple months pass by after it all blew over, she acts like nothing ever happened and was being nice to me. But the entire time I could feel that she wasn't genuine. She would cut my hair every once in a while as practice because she was studying to become a hairdresser. She offered to give me a haircut again after we started talking again and even tho my gut told me not to do it I did it anyway. Which I regretted. She pulled at my hair really hard amd I just sat through it with my mouth shut and didnt say anything. While the entire time she hummed and whispered something to herself, quiet enough so I couldn't hear her. I asked her what she was saying and she told me not to worry about it. After she finished I said thanks and hung around for another hour or two and quickly left. I noticed she botched my hair, and left the left side entirely untouched while the right side was pretty short. I have wavy hair so it covers up the fact that it's uneven but it got noticeable after it got longer. About two weeks goes by and I got tired of physically feeling my hair being uneven so I asked her one day if she could help me touch it uo since I noticed it was uneven. She said sure and then set up the chair and stuff and she started cutting my hair. Again she's pulling at my hair really really hard and it hurts like hell but I just tough it out. I felt her cut my left side and then she went in on the right side and touched it up a bit. She was whispering to herself again! Except that entire time I felt even more uncomfortable. My inner alarms were going off telling me to get the fuck away from this crazy bitch or else soemthing bad would happen. I said thanks after she finished and apoligized for not being able to stay much longer because my mother needed me home (a total lie) and I ran for it amd never went back. I stopped talking to her completely now and thanks to a co-worker who's also part of the Asatru branch, has taught me far more and fixed whatever Q taught me and told me about Asatru. Be careful out there kiddos >>

2019.05.03 22:00 EinarrVigburinn 23 [M4F] Hoo Lads This One Is A Doosy

Ok Lets-a go.
South East USA
Alright so lets get me out of the way;
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
6.5/10? (you be the judge)
White
~6'0 (haven't measured in a while but im taller than a guy who claims to be 6'0)
215lbs (kinda chunky but. like. not that bad)
My interests are:
HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) that's sword fighting but with knights instead of Katana weeb trash
Politics (I still think I'm Liberal but the Left is bonkers so I guess now that the Overton Window has shifted that I'm just barely right of Center),
Video Games (this one is kinda hard because I haven't really liked a whole lot of things that have come out recently, although I will say I'm done with consoles PC is my future)
Movie Reviews
Law (I love Criminal Law and will 100% geek out if there is a chance to dive headlong into some legal tomfoolery)
Guns (but not like GUNS. I have what I want and I like to concealed or open carry and go shooting from time to time. Passed that they don't really hold my attention)
My Music Tastes
This one is pretty simple actually most of the music I like is Classic Rock, Classical (you know like Beethoven and shit), and Power Metal. Now I can absolutly get down to some other genres but generally I am not a fan of modern Country or Rap.
Notable Personality Traits
Goal Driven (just wait you'll see)
Sarcastic
Blunt
Difficulty speaking my mind (I have a kind of stutter (note not your average every day stutter but a stutter none the less) that makes it difficult for me to say what I intend to because I start and stop my sentences repeatedly and get confused hearing my own voice)
Honorable
Willful
Loyal (we're getting there hold on)
excellent in a crisis
I have a supper edgy sense of humor. lol. 4chan
Basically a Luddite
Coolio, now for the fun(?) part
I am religious, I loosely follow Neo-Germanic Paganism, commonly known as Odinism, Asatru, or Heathenry. When I was 19 I swore an unbreakable oath to serve and protect my fellow humans even if it kills me and will sacrifice all the glories of society to do so. It is my sincerely held belief that I have been given a set of skills that will help me fulfill this oath and that it is my responsibility to use them to protect innocent people who do not have my particular skill set live happy (or jaded I don't care) lives free from the influence of evil. I also tend to move around a lot but I'm hoping to settle somewhere in the next 6 years.
What this means for me
I want to be a cop, and I will go out of my way to help people even if it means my own harm or death.
An aspect of that oath I choose to interpret is very carefully giving out a passphrase to certain people I meet. If I am contacted with this passphrase I am honor and duty bound to rush to that persons aid as fast as humanly possible and let no obstacle hinder me.
There is a very good chance I will die before I hit 60. That's not to be edgy its just to state a belief I have, accurate or inaccurate I can feel it in my bones.
There is a chance I may have to abandon family and friends in order to fulfill my oath and I am happy to do it
I feel bad posting this because I believe that anyone who joins me as a life partner (btw part of the oath is I cant get married) is basically throwing their lives away (but then again that's their choice so I feel kind of conflicted)
What This Means For You
If you've made it this far and haven't totally written me off here is a few things you might have to deal with as my partner
Never getting married
Never having kids of your own
Moving frequently
being a "cops wife"
living in apartments
me suddenly leaving to gods know where to help out someone you've never met
Handling your own shit (I am far from a feminist but by the gods I am not your caretaker either)
Ending Statement
If after all this you're still interested in chatting message me on here and we can chat. Maybe swap some pictures. Idk if it's proper form or anything but I plan on posting this every couple of weeks for the next good while. I've tried dating Irl but my friend group isn't that big and dating sites suck donkey nuts so I figured I'd check reddit before I said "fuck it" for good.

2019.03.26 10:23 Dragonixa Me and my bf met this interesting girl, and as the time passed she went more and more insane...

So this is a pretty long story about a very crazy girl that I will call D (because it's a first letter of her nickname) and this involves me and my bf, who I'll call A (also first letter of a nickname). Sorry if I make any mistakes, English is not my native language. TL;DR at the end.
So me and A met D on a group meeting at the beach, we set up a campfire and we had a great time. D was very interesting to talk to since she believed in Nordic gods and was really close with nature and we wanted to keep in touch with her, though the longer we knew her the more crazy she has become.
We met a couple of times and what me and my bf realised was the fact that she would always talk about her ex and how she wanted to pull him out of his drug addiction, how much she loved him etc. and we felt really bad for her at first, but then it started to get a little annoying, because it felt kind of obsessive... She would tell us how she constantly tries contacting him and that he wouldn't even want to talk to her (they broke up 2 years before) and A already felt something's wrong about D, but he didn't want to stir up anything.
Once me and my bf went out with a couple of our friends (D wasn't with us) and we were at the bar for bikers and we had a good time. At some point some dude walked up to us and the guy was clearly a little drunk and was very happy to see us, just because we are metalheads. This guy had a Nordic rune symbol on his necklace and since one of my friends is very spiritual, he wanted to give it to her, but she checked the rune's energy and apparently it held really bad energy (I know nothing about this kind of stuff, so don't ask me) and she didn't accept it. But this guy also wanted to give my bf something and it was a pin with an old logo of Dżem (read: Jam; very popular band in Poland) and A accepted it.
At some point a woman walked up to this guy and she turned out to be his wife. She apologised to us for his behavior, we talked a little and the couple left.
When D saw the pin, she instantly knew who was the guy who gave it to A. She was more than sure that it was her ex's, because he looooved Dżem (and he told us that too).
From now on I don't really remember the chronological order of the events, it happened a while ago, so I'll just write what I can recall.
Because we were pretty close with D at this point, we told her about how our relationship started and it was pretty rocky, because my bf once left me for another for a month, and when we got back together he cheated on me. We were at the point of our relationship when we were building up each other's trust again (nowadays everything is more than perfect, we were pretty young when all of this happened and it's all a thing in the past) and it was ok, but D took it to another level.
I think it started from one conversation that A had with D and I wasn't with them, but A told D that if he was single, he would date her, because she's kinda pretty. For some reason she escalated it completely and she thought A just confessed love to her and that he would cheat on me again. Later she told that to our mutual friend who later held grudge against A because of it (we later forgave her, because she didn't know at the time that D is insane).
Once A received a call from one of our punk friends and he asked "Hey, are you cheating on Dragonixa again?" and of course A said no and it turned out that the friend knew that from D, because before a concert one of the punks said "A is a dick" (it's an inside joke), D overheard that and approached them and started ranting on A how he's a cheating bastard and that I don't deserve to be treated like that, because I'm such an amazing person. Wtf.
Some time later, D has finally moved out from her parents' house (they were apparently abusive, but from a nowadays perspective I don't know if I could really believe that) and she had a roommate that she either hated or liked him and she would switch her opinion on him on a dime every time. A didn't want to hang out with D anymore, but I was still pretty naive at the time and liked her despite all the gossip she has spread about my bf. We were hanging out in her new apartment and she let me play with her new cat, we had a good time and then she started talking about her roommate, who wasn't at home then. She said that she had sex with him at some point and also that she's allergic to condoms, and also she doesn't trust the pills, so they basically didn't use any protection whatsoever. I told her that it could have been risky and that it would be pretty tough for her to get pregnant since her situation isn't the best and I said that she could have not let him inside her... you know what, just so the risk of getting pregnant isn't as high. She brushed it off, and she regretted it later on. Of course she got pregnant and the roommate disappeared from her life.
And ooooh boy, her pregnancy...... She needed a guy, so me and A decided to meet her up with one ginger friend of ours (he'll be R), who had a good job, a car and was pretty well situated, but yet single. R fell in love with her at first, but as the time passed, he started hating her to the guts. Because of her pregnancy complications, she ended up in a hospital and started getting reeeaaally demanding. She wouldn't even care if R was at work, she would demand that he showed up instantly and if he simply couldn't show up, she would scream at him, spam him with messages and calls and was acting livid. And she was doing the same with my bf as well! She was completely crazy.
After that we have completely cut contact with her, even R did. Or so we thought...
Recently, after like 2-3 years of 0 contact, she sent me a message, that I'll try to translate here and I'll add screenshots at the end as well for you Polish folks to approve (she'll be referring to one of our mutual friends, who usually organises campfire meetings and he'll be K):
"You know what Dragonixa, speak to K because I can't talk with him anymore, I don't like his style and I declared that to him brutally, you said you are his bestie so get your ass and take care of him if you're supposedly so good....."
I responded:
"I'm sorry, but how much time has passed since we last talked and how much trouble have you caused then to even talk to me like that? You get your ass and mind your own business"
And then she spewed a loooong ass message to me before she blocked me, it's pretty confusing to read, but I'll try to interpret it to you (my comments in brackets):
"Cool I get it and I now know why you both insisted on contacting me (LOL, WE DIDN'T). I don't like people and I don't like you more than A, you're very cringey and you're derogating yourself and him with your style of a "satanistic feminist something", besides that, fucking in the a..... There are condoms, and if there's no ejaculation deep in a woman then you'll have no kid, I know from autopsy (I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING, WHY WOULD SHE MENTION THAT). You know what, forced marriage, I mean I know how to do those things because of one person from a certain environment, but maybe they wanted only good between you both, you know it's not a marriage (I can't even interpret it, wtf is she talking about). And if someone derogates, lies, hurts because of a promise, such person has a right to break that promise according to asatru (from her Nordic beliefs). Because you lied to him about what was I talking and what you've presumably heard from me. But I don't really care and I don't take anyone's boyfriends. And I know for sure who is that person and who they know (I have know idea who is she reffering to). Besides, you're exceptionally cunning and ordinary, such a still water that runs deep, a liar. Btw. You were claiming that you're such a bestie of K, you know what, you shouldn't turn your back on him (we're still friends and I'm never going to turn my back on him... wtf), so better get going. Well, I don't care about any of it. You better not talk to me."
And there you have it... The whole story. I don't even know what to say, so I'll just sum it up with, uuuuh.... Thank you for the read?
Also if you're wondering why she called me a sataistic feminist, it's all based on how I look nowadays, so I'll add a picture of myself from a recent concert of my band :,)
TL;DR
So in short, we meet a girl believing in Nordic mythology, she's obsessed with her ex who broke up with her 2 years before and is happily married, then she spreads gossip about my bf that he cheats on me just because he complimented her, she later gets pregnant with her roommate who she either hated or liked, ends up in hospital and tries to take advantage of my friend and my bf and after 2-3 years of no contact she spews out confusing messages and blocks me.

2019.02.12 23:51 Epimethius17 The Fogmistress comes out of her cloud and goes right back in because of Dicktator and Shrek.

So when I left filled you guys in, my wife and I had just had a miscarriage and Dicktator had made a bad situation worse... Well good news guys after a summer of trying my wife and I got pregnant finally and so far (fingers crossed) it seems to be going well.
That leads me to my latest story about Fogmistress. So Fogmistress has always wanted to be a grandmother so when we finally told her that we were successful she was over the moon. Now I need to wind the narrative back a bit. Before we told her (mid December right before Christmas) I finally got up the guts to go back to the big family reunion in order to see relatives I hadn't seen in a while.
I was scared and chose not to stay for more then an hour or so because of the bad history with my immediate family. I saw them there tried to talk to them about what had happened in the past (it had been more then a year since I had seen any of them in person and they always said they needed time to get over stuff). My dad said little my older brother and Fogmistress basically said they would never talk about it. Shrek said hi, but nothing more and Dicktator ignored me.
So after that we told Fogmistress and I went over to my parents place a few hours before Christmas Eve to show my dad and Fogmistress the ultra sounds. Fogmistress wanted to keep one and when I said no (because I didn't want Dicktator to see it, because Dicktator can read ultrasounds and determine sex of the child something which we personally didn't want to know and definitely didn't want him knowing a head of us. He did this to a mutual friend and used it to blackmail him). When I explained the reasons which are the same that I just explained to you guys, Fogmistress got offended and then the argument spiralled with her demanding why I acted so weird at the family reunion and not liking the explanation which led to a lot of shouting and drama on her part. This led to my older brother coming out of his room and again all blame being put on me and my OB saying I was making his depression worse by trying to talk through what happened in the past and calling me a lot of names. I finally left the house with Fogmistress screaming and crying about how I had ruined Christmas.
After new years I got an email from Fogmistress actually apologizing for her behaviour and asking if she could say that in person. She wanted to meet before Christmas holidays ended but because I was working my other job and frankly just sick of her drama (though the apology shocked me, normally it's a non apology that I get) i made her wait a week though I agreed to meet her on her home turf.
The meeting went actually extremely well with us being to talk through in tangential fashion about what had led us to that point. It was great I learned a lot about how they thought she learned why I thought the way I thought. It was very cathartic. She also gave me gifts from my brother s which shocked me but it was an attempt by them to say sorry.
Now for the record I've learned a lot from this subreddit and the justnomil subreddit and hold to the credo that gifts are not an apology or an olive branch it's just an attempt to rugsweep bad behaviour I am also a very non materialistic person and given the past history with my family using gifts as an olive branch, when all I've ever wanted is a hello from my brothers and an invitation to coffee, is kinda offensive to me. I said thanks for the gifts and because Fogmistress wouldnt listen my attempts to say thanks but no thanks, was forced to take them with me.
Fast forward a month and having heard no follow up from my brothers (despite Fogmistress making sure she had my up-to-date contact info), I get an email from Fogmistress that passively aggressively demanded I say thank you to my brothers. When I pointed out I was still waiting to hear from them and that I was very busy getting the house ready for our new arrival (I actually am verrry busy, wife bought house as a fixer upper and we really didn't complete the job and are now rushing to do so) she said everyone is busy and that's no excuse.
So I took the high road again and sent everyone a very nice email full of things designed to stroke egos and tweak ultra christian outrage (I went pagan/ christian a while back something my very christian family didn't know and one of the gifts was a Viking drinking horn which was welcome as I'm Asatru/ Christian) (sorry the passive aggressive demands for thank yous on my brothers behalf by Fogmistress irritated me). Got a thank you from Shrek on his and I presume the Dicktators behalf. And that's the latest update on Fogmistress and her Children Dicktator, Shrek and Older Brother.
Thanks this has been cathartic!

2019.01.23 09:02 Tsar_Ruswal I need a spell to break a spell.

So the jist is that I need a spell to break a love spell. The backstory is that I met a girl a few years back who happened to be a witch, which was completely fine with me because I'm pagan myself (Asatru however). We started dating and I felt like I fell in love with her.
We broke up after nearly a year of dating and didn't think much of it because it's nothing I haven't been through before but an entire year after splitting up I still felt like I was in love with her.
I was still in contact with her so I asked just out of curiosity if she had ever cast a spell on me, low and behold she had, it was a love spell when we first started dating which, in hindsight, makes perfect sense.
I would try Asatruist magic however much of Asatru is up for debate since there is really only archeological evidence left and nothing in the way of texts. I also figured that if it was Wiccan magic used on me seems fit that it be Wiccan magic that breaks the spell.
One final note, I would prefer a spell that doesn't bounce back to the caster (not myself but her) as I don't necessarily want her catch feelings for me after this is done since (if the spell works) I shouldn't have feeling for her anymore.

2018.08.02 21:47 UsurpedLettuce Heathenry, Asatru, and Terminological Efficacy

There was a comment brought up on asatruar about this subreddit's position on the term "Heathen", with false perceptions of us attempting to twist the term "Heathen" into some kind of "Anglo-Saxon Germanic" exclusivist definition. This is patently untrue. Anyone who comes into our Discord and checks the ranks will see that we have an overwhelming majority of people who do not identify at all with Anglo-Saxon heathenry. That the mods here are majority Anglo-Saxon focused or inspired does nothing to affect how this subreddit views the term "Heathen". If you look at our statement of purpose you will clearly see how this subreddit defines Heathen, and makes no claims that one has to be of a particular cultural persuasion in order to qualify. If anything, care has been taken in order to define away from such things, focusing instead on methodology, cosmology, and overall views.
"Heathen" is one of those terms that has, for a long time, held a general definition. Like other reclaimed words in modern Paganism, we've had to wrest it away from a Christian-dominated thought (and the overwhelming majority still maintains this line of thinking). And even in a Pagan context Heathen and Asatru were largely synonymous. I'm reminded of how at one point Pagan and Wiccan were synonymous throughout much of the discussion online and in person, for decades.
However, this isn't the case any more. I (anecdotally) run into more and more people who are interested in Heathenry that have nothing to do with Asatru, or Asatru methods of ritual, worldview, and who (more importantly) find that Asatru as a descriptor does not apply to them. I always go back to the Anglo-Saxon practitioner on this one (for obvious reasons): there's no distinction in divine 'groups' in Anglo-Saxon heathenry. The people who do bring that in from the Norse lore and often just create some cognate for it, but it does not represent earlier forms of Anglo-Saxon inspired Heathenry.
The same would go for Frankish Heathenry, Continental Heathenry, etc.
If we take the use of term "Asatru" to mean "True Faith of the Aesir" it would be inappropriate for someone who is an Anglo-Saxon Heathen to call themselves such, if they do not worship in that particular paradigm of thought. In expecting people to ascribe to the Asatru identity who are not Norse-linguistically/culturally focused, there's identity erasure. By splitting Heathenry from Asatru in discussion we can avoid that to some small extent.
Though Heathens and Asatru often use the same words for similar things, this does not equate to a similar religious identity. If it did we would be in some measure considered Wiccan, given the appropriation of various Germanic holidays into their own year. But I digress.
It seems that the largest group of people who have problems with the division between Heathenry and Asatru are members of the "old guard", older members of the community who feel that there is no need for such a division in identity or sees nothing wrong with the status quo. They are comfortable with their identity as Asatru, comfortable with the use of practices like the Hammer Rite, and are comfortable with the way things have been for the past twenty five or thirty years.
But I know for a fact that thatsnotgneiss's letter about breaking up with "Asatru" as a Heathen has been the subject of some renewed contention within the Troth (it was previously published by Heathen Talk, two years ago). Asatru, even before one considers the quality of the groups who have borne that word in their name (in America, at least), is a dated identity for many of us. The Troth, while a repository of information, has been commented upon by its own members as stale, old fashioned, or out of touch. Are these people wrong? I cannot say, because I'm not a member, but I'll take their word as insiders over non-Troth members. Many Heathens at present do not see the need for national organizations (do not take this as an attack on the Troth, it isn't).
There is a divergence occurring between those who identify as Heathen and those who identify as Asatru. At present it's a negligible one and perhaps to people who are firmly ensconced within the world of Asatru (both meatspace and online) pointless to state. But as we have greater cultural interpretation of Heathenry growing, and greater local and regional traditions occurring, the appellation of Asatru will be ever-more cumbersome and insufficient to use.
This subreddit is not anti-Asatru by any means. But it's a space for Heathenry as a nascent religious identity that is growing away from Asatru to come together and discuss their developing traditions with a reconstructionist methodology supporting them. Our goal is to facilitate the growth of that identity away from Asatru. That means critiquing the use of the Hammer Rite. Critiquing the common themes of Asatru (individuality, the nine noble virtues, the actions of Asatru groups), etc. To people who have been involved in Asatru for twenty five years or more, who have viewed Asatru as uniformly synonymous with Heathen, this can be offputting and viewed as an attack.
The mods of the subreddit are most certainly not in the business of pushing any one ethno-cultural religious paradigm on another person. There is no Anglo-Saxon Germanic agenda to drive people out of Heathenry unless they conform to that religious view.

2018.07.16 06:37 NemophilistCFH 28/M/US seeing who's out there

Hi, I'm looking for women to talk to or potentially date. I'm looking for a LTR but haven't had much luck with tinder as I live in a rural area. I live in Iowa and own an acreage with 3.25 acres of land. I raise chickens for meat and also a cow, and I have a garden. Basically trying to be self sufficient. I am a huge metalhead (lose most ppl here) I enjoy all types of metal but black/pagan/dark folk are my favorites. I play guitar, bass, and I'm learning drums. I also enjoy hiking and being out in nature. I'm a Pagan (Odinist/Asatru) and would like to meet someone on the Pagan path also or at least someone that's OK with it. If any of this interests someone, feel free to message me.

2017.12.14 17:32 freyakelly Dating in Asatru : A Female's Perspective

As a heathen female, I'd like a heathen man. This has been a big issue for me and I hope the moderator leaves the post; I did not include too much personal information other than what is needed to make my point.
A few weeks ago I went to an Asatru event sponsored by the AFA. I'm a midwestern female who works for a science lab as a research assistant for a chemical testing department. Unlike a good deal of pagan and heathen women, I'm pretty fit, fairly smart and not the size of the house. The issue for me is that the AFA tried to hook me up with a bunch of fat biker guys or prison guys. These guys were really stupid, didn't have much in common with me or were the type that knew how to manipulate women. That's unacceptable. This isn't the first time I've heard of this issue, they are bad about hooking up their really smart, good looking guys, with fat unintelligent ancient ex skinhead women. What's the point of this? Good looking, smart people want to be paired with goodlooking, smart people, not these prison guys and skinhead women. Who else has run into this issue regardless of what flavor of Asatru or heathenry you practice? Are national organizations the best choice for people wanting to meet other heathens?
